"Just Regenerate": The Bad-Seed Workaround Culture in AI Video Editing

While reference-guided video stays unreliable, working practice is blunt: do not commit a clip until you have looked, delete a stuck result, and switch models when one keeps missing.

Reference-guided video is in the phase where the working method is a set of coping habits. The model is not reliable enough to trust on the first return, and the people shipping sequences already behave that way.

Look before it is a cut

Do not let a generated clip become a committed timeline asset the moment the progress bar ends. Given the drift described in the previous articles, an editor that auto-places the file sets you up to find, several edits later, that a clip buried in the sequence does not match the reference.

Delete the stuck result

Adobe Community replies on Firefly tell people to keep prompts short, put the instruction at the front, and avoid Refresh when they are trying to hold a seed. A separate reply, about generations that collapse into the same look, says to delete those results so you are not continuing from a bad seed. Prompting harder at a result that has locked onto the wrong subject rarely talks it into the reference. A fresh attempt does more.

Change the model, and price the misses

One model will miss a job that another handles. The sequential-clip thread is full of people fighting a tool that swaps models under them. The practical move, when one model keeps ignoring the reference, is to run the same brief on a different one without retyping the prompt and reattaching the image. And the miss rate has a cost. The poster who lost 1,200 credits on three failed Firefly generations had not priced failure in. Treat a first-attempt miss as a normal line item.

Those habits should be the interface: draft placement, one-click regenerate with a new seed, a model switch that keeps the prompt and the reference, and a visible credit count.
