Apple Creator Studio: Apple's Own Bet on Native AI Video Editing

Apple Creator Studio, on sale from 28 January 2026, is a subscription bundle. Final Cut Pro's new AI finds footage you already shot. It does not generate the shot.

Apple Creator Studio went on sale on 28 January 2026. It is a subscription bundle, not a new generative editor. For $12.99 a month or $129 a year you get Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro on Mac and iPad, plus Motion, Compressor, and MainStage on Mac. The Mac apps remain available as one-time purchases. The bundle is what unlocks the intelligent features.

Search the footage you already have

In Final Cut Pro the new video tools are Visual Search, Transcript Search, and Beat Detection. Visual Search finds an object or an action across the library and drops that moment on the timeline. Apple's footnote requires Apple silicon, macOS 15.6 or later, and U.S. English. Transcript Search finds a phrase in hours of footage. Beat Detection uses a Logic Pro model to draw a beat grid. TechCrunch reported that visual and transcript search run on the device through Apple Intelligence.

Generating a clip and finding a clip you already shot are different jobs. An editor has to say which of the two it is solving.

M1 still counts

Some 2026 Mac software roundups claim these tools are built for M4 and M5 Neural Engines, and that M1 and M2 machines can only just run them. Apple's Visual Search requirement is any Apple silicon Mac on macOS 15.6 or later. CineD, after interviewing Apple, reported that the Creator Studio features run on M1 hardware, and that an M5 callout in the press demo was about peak speed on the machine they were showing. Newer chips will feel faster. They are not the minimum.

Apple putting on-device search inside Final Cut tells you the platform is spending on creative AI. The spend, so far, is on organising footage you already have. Generating a new shot and placing it on a timeline is still a third-party problem.
